Who are we?
GreenD, Inc. offers consulting services to meet the needs of newly forming biodiesel businesses and on-going operations that have not yet reached the stage where they can hire full-time general management, marketing, and sales professionals.
Our founders are Gary and Raelene Williams. Over the past 30-plus years, they’ve served as senior managers in companies ranging in size from a few employees to more than 100,000. Their experience includes founding -- and selling -- their own businesses, and working in both profit-making and non-profit organizations.
More About the Founders
Gary Williams earned a degree in Public Relations from San Jose State University, then went on to enjoy a variety of career opportunities in Silicon Valley, all related to one central theme: marketing and business management. He served as executive editor of H.M. Gousha, a subsidiary of a major publishing company, where he produced magazines, books, and marketing materials for the very oil companies now being challenged by biofuels.
He moved into high technology at Calma Company, a subsidiary of General Electric, where he was director, then vice president, of corporate communications (advertising, PR, trade shows, marketing and employee communications). About 1990, he joined his wife, Raelene, in their family-owned manufacturing business. Together they transformed a tiny sign company into Artsigns Architectural Graphics, one of the country’s premier suppliers of corporate sign systems. Their client list included: Apple Computer, Google, Oracle, Cadence, CB Richard Ellis, and many others. Both have served on the Boards of several non-profits and, until recently, Raelene was Co-Chair of Design Response, a highly respected non-profit she helped found. Design Response brings together professional architects and interior designers to provide low- or no-cost interior design services to charitable organizations that provide essential services, such as food, clothing, counseling, and health care to those that could not otherwise afford it.
They became interested in biofuels about the time the new millennium began, but their ownership of, and appreciation for, diesel passenger cars goes back to 1980. They currently own a Jetta TDI and a Jeep Liberty CRD, both of which run on biodiesel pumped from their own home fueling facility.
When the Williams’s sold Artsigns in 2005, it freed them to spend time on what they enjoy, helping biodiesel businesses and co-ops thrive in a nation that is finally beginning to awaken to the environmental and economic hazards of a national addiction to petroleum.
